What it costs to run
Individual
Hobby is free, with pay-as-you-go orbs and model usage. The Individual (Megawatt) tier is $20/mo and lists 45,000 orb minutes; a Gigawatt tier is offered but its price is not shown in the page text.
Team
Workspaces cost nothing extra; members keep their own Hobby, Megawatt, or Gigawatt tier and share billing and pooled credits.
Enterprise
Custom pricing with pooled credits only and no paid user seats; contact Amp.
Included usage resets each monthly billing period and does not roll over. Paid credits bill actual model and tool usage at provider API prices, with no Amp markup for individuals and non-enterprise workspaces; credits expire 12 months after purchase. Orbs are billed by the minute according to size, from $0.08/hour (a1.tiny) to $2.13/hour (a1.3xlarge); paused orbs cost nothing. Usage through your own API key or a linked ChatGPT subscription is billed by that provider. Amp Free's daily grant closed to new users in February 2026 and was reduced for more users in May 2026. Students and teachers can subscribe for $10/month. Invoices are issued through Stripe, which accepts a VAT ID.

Data handling
- Code processing
- Prompts, conversation history, and selected code context go to Amp Server and then to the model provider; orb threads run on Amp-managed remote machines.
- Indexing
- Amp states its client and server do not index the entire codebase; orb threads clone the repository, and per-project orb snapshots are reused for up to 72 hours.
- Retention
- Thread data is deleted within 30 days of thread deletion; Enterprise workspace threads remain until the contract ends. Minimal Data Retention limits provider-side retention on Amp-managed connections, with safety and legal exceptions.
- Training policy
- Amp states neither it nor its subprocessors train on customer data unless the user opts in; Enterprise workspaces cannot enable training. Linked subscriptions follow the provider's own settings.
